Harry Potter Flying Keys
Step 1: Purchase Materials
You only need 4 materials to make these flying keys. You will need:
Skeleton Keys
Wings
Clear Fishing Line
Clear Push Pins
Begin your project by grabbing some skeleton keys and wings. Skeleton keys can often be found at local craft stores or on Amazon. Look for a variety of shapes and sizes to give your keys an extra magical appearance.
You'll also need some fishing line (or any clear string) to attach your keys and hang them up. And don’t forget to plan how you’ll actually get them on the ceiling! We used push pins, but small command hooks work just as well
Step 2: Assemble Your Flying Keys
Once you have your keys and wings, it’s time to assemble your flying keys.
Use fishing line to tie the wings onto the skeleton keys. Start by measuring a length of string that is long enough to secure the wings firmly.
Tie the wings securely to the top of the key, ensuring they are well-balanced for the best flying effect.
Repeat this for all your keys.
Step 3: Hang Your Flying Keys
Now that your flying keys are ready, it’s time to hang them up! Use push pins or small hooks to attach the keys to your ceiling. Hang your keys at varying lengths to create a more natural look.
A helpful tip is to tie the ends of the string to the front and back of the key, then hang the middle of the string from the pin. This allows the keys to dangle and sway gently as if they are flying.
As you hang your flying keys from the ceiling, step back and admire your handiwork. They will surely become a conversation starter for the Halloween gatherings at your home.
