We hosted a camp themed birthday party that was the perfect kick off for summer. For the camp party, we put together a summer camp food menu that made the kids feel like real campers.

Even though we were just in the backyard, the classic flavors, fun names, and creative twists had everyone feeling like they were camping.

You can throw together a summer camp food menu for any occasion. You could use this for a birthday party, last day of school party, or any other summer get together. With these easy camping food options, feeding a crowd is a breeze.

Easy Camping Food

Hot Dogs

No camping trip is complete without easy campfire food and roasting hot dogs over an open fire! There’s just something about the smoky, fire-kissed flavor that makes them taste even better.

Roasted hot dogs are the perfect main dish for your summer camp food menu. Letting your guests roast their own hot dog over a fire is the best because it doubles as an activity. If a fire isn’t an option, grilling the hotdogs on a grill is a good alternative.

Who doesn’t love Cheetos? They are an easy camping food addition that adds a little crunch to the meal. We served the Cheetos as “campfire flames,” adding a fun twist to the meal.

S'mores Trail Mix

In addition to our easy camping food for kids, sweet treats are a must! S’mores is a natural addition to the menu. Roasting a marshmallow over the fire to get that crispness surrounding a warm, creamy filling is what everyone wants.

S’mores is the flavor everyone craves after a fire roasted hot dog. For our summer camp food menu, we actually didn’t have s’mores. We made it a little easier.

We put together a S’mores trail mix, a fun and easy alternative to traditional s’mores. This mix was quick to put together and pop-able for our guests. They could just fill up a cup to munch on as they enjoyed the festivities.

S’mores trail mix is packed with mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, and Golden Grahams cereal. Although, you could use graham cracker pieces to give it all the classic flavors.

Mud Cups

Another camping themed party food treat is the kid-favorite. The “mud cup”—a layered treat made with pudding, crushed Oreos, and gummy worms. Mud cups are some of our kids' favorites. They can be slightly messy for the younger kids, so be ready to provide your guests with wipes.

Summer Camp Food Menu: Drinks

All of this easy camping food is missing one important thing. Drinks! To wash it all down, we served “lake water” and “river water,” which were simply blue punch (Hawaiian Punch) and regular water. The kids absolutely loved the fun names. You could also just provide your guests with a water bottle to continue the camping vibe.
