Have you ever made a charcuterie board or charcuterie table for a specifc theme?
We love figuring out food for a specific theme and seeing it all come together.
Recently, we threw a Wizard of Oz party. Not only were there decorations and activities on point, but the food was its own show-stopping display.
We know when we are brainstorming ideas, that 6 minds work better than one. That is how we were able to put together this wonderful charcuterie board—let’s call it a charcuterie table.
This blog post is all about our Wizard of Oz food grazing table.

Wizard of Oz Food
The ideas for all of this food came from reading the book of the Wizard of Oz. We wanted our party journey to end at the Emerald City, but we also wanted it to match the journey. To really bring the Wizard of Oz food theme to life, we added some fun Emerald City decorations to our grazing table that made everything pop!
Grazing Table
Grazing tables would be perfect for hosting so many different occasions. We used it when we hosted our Wizard of Oz book club. We may rebuild it for a pre-watch party when we go see “Wicked” together!
You could use it for a Wizard of Oz themed party, baby shower, game night, movie night, or date night. Are your kids participating in the play Wizard of Oz? A graze table would be the perfect setup for a cast party!
This charcuterie table was a highlight of our party. We want people to be able to create it easier than we did, so we thought we would share all of our charcuterie table ideas that made the food look like a beautiful, edible decoration.
Wizard of Oz Charcuterie Table & Food
There were so many foods we considered for this table, but ultimately, we were pulling ideas from the book. We also thought creating a scene with our Wizard of Oz food would be magical and fun!
Yellow Brick Road
We had a yellow brick road of cheese that twisted and turned through all of the fruit, nuts, and other foods. We cut up small cheese squares to create a brick-like look.
To make sure everything had a place, we first placed our big items on our grazing table. For example, the items on grazing boards or the grazing platter. Then, we built our yellow brick road to travel through our other foods on our charcuterie table.

Mini Cakes
In the book, the Munchkins have a feast table that holds cakes and pies. Having cakes and pies seems excessive for our party of littles. Instead of cakes and pies, we went with mini alternatives.
Here's how we made our delightful mini cakes:
Ingredients:
- Cake mix
- Frosting
- Cupcake liners
Instructions:
- Bake Sheet Cake: Prepare the sheet cake mix according to the package instructions and bake in a large pan.
- Cut Mini Cakes: Once the cake has cooled, use a round cookie cutter or a small glass to cut out mini cakes from the sheet cake.
- Frost Mini Cakes: Frost each mini cake as you would a layered cake, adding frosting between layers if desired.
- Present: Place the frosted mini cakes on flattened cupcake liners for a fancy presentation.
These mini layered cakes look fancier than cupcakes but are still perfectly sized for little hands, making them a delightful addition to your party!
Mini Tarts
Instead of making pies, we made tarts. They were a delicious addition. We chose to go with a simple cream cheese filling. That way they could be topped with any fruit on the table.

Melting Witch Brownies
These brownies were really simple. Here’s how to create them:
Ingredients:
- Brownie mix
- Vanilla frosting
- Green food coloring
- Fudge-striped cookies
- Chocolate kisses
Instructions:
- Bake Brownies: Prepare the brownie mix according to package instructions and bake in a 9x13 pan.
- Cool and Cut: Once cooled, cut the brownies into 12 squares.
- Prepare Frosting: In a bowl, mix vanilla frosting with green food coloring. Heat the mixture in the microwave for about 30 seconds until it becomes melty.
- Frost Brownies: Move the brownies to a plate, spacing them out to allow the frosting to drip down the sides. Use a piping bag to pour enough green frosting on top of each brownie so that it drips down the sides.
- Add Witch Hats: Place a Fudge-striped cookie upside down (chocolate side up) on top of each brownie. Attach a chocolate kiss to the center of the cookie using a dot of green frosting.
These were so yummy and a fun little addition to our table.
Poppy Field Cookies
These cookies were simple, but only possible if you have a cookie press. We used this recipe, made the cookies red, and added some black sanding sugar and chocolate to the center. Making them look like poppies.
An alternative would be to make some butter cookies or small sugar cookies that are red and cut out with a flower cookie cutter.

Cherry Mice
We wanted mice for our cookie field on our charcuterie table, but we also wanted them to match the rest of our food. We went through many ideas before we found these adorable cherry mice. These were also simple to make. Here’s how to make them:
Ingredients:
- Fresh cherries with stems
- Chocolate
- Chocolate kisses
- Almonds
Instructions:
- Prepare: Keep the stems on the fresh cherries to use as tails.
- Dip: Dip each cherry into melted chocolate, ensuring it’s well-coated.
- Add Head: Before the chocolate hardens, place an unwrapped chocolate kiss on top of the cherry for the head.
- Add Ears: Insert half-sliced almonds into the chocolate to create ears.
- Dry: Place the completed mice on parchment paper to dry, making them easy to move.
These adorable cherry mice are simple to make and a delightful addition to any food table. Now that we know how easy they are to prepare, we’ll be adding them to our tables whenever we can!
Emerald Pinwheels
For these pinwheels, we used spinach wraps. We were serving kids, so we went simple. The beauty of these pinwheels was that you can make them as simple or complicated as you would like. Here’s how we made ours:
Ingredients:
- Spinach wraps
- Cream cheese
- Turkey
Instructions:
- Spread: Spread cream cheese evenly over the spinach wrap.
- Layer: Add slices of turkey on top of the cream cheese.
- Roll: Roll up the spinach wrap tightly.
- Slice: Slice the rolled wrap into 1-2 inch sections.
- Decorate: Insert a decorative toothpick into each piece for easy serving.
These pinwheels are perfect for kids and can be customized with various fillings to suit your taste!
Melted Witch Punch
For our melted witch punch, we went to our favorite party punch. This drink is a delight and comes together very quickly! Here's how to make it:
Ingredients:
- Lime sherbet
- Pineapple juice
- Sprite
Instructions:
- Scoop: Add scoops of lime sherbet into a punch bowl.
- Pour: Pour 1 small can of pineapple juice over the sherbet.
- Fill: Fill the rest of the punch bowl with Sprite.
This creates a beautiful green drink that is foamy and delicious!
Other Sweets and Treats
We couldn’t resist adding some fun green jello to our spread! We cut it into little squares and popped them onto flattened cupcake liners. This way, they were super easy to grab, and we could sprinkle them around the table for a playful, colorful touch. It really added to the festive vibe!
Add some delicious-looking lollipops for a rainbow of color. They made our kids excited to ‘make it’ to the Emerald City to eat the Wizard of Oz food.
Final Thoughts
Add this setup to any form of Emerald City decorations and your party will be talked about for ages. We had so much fun with our Emerald City decorations, and they really brought the whole theme together! Check out our Wizard of Oz Book Club to see how we made our Emerald City decorations. It turned out spectacularly.
