Looking for a way to bring the golf course indoors? Whether it’s a rainy day or you just need indoor activities for kids, these golf activities will keep them entertained.

We put these activities together as we were preparing to host our Par 3 birthday party. Our birthday party was full of kids of all ages. Everyone enjoyed the golf activities. Even the toddlers thrived. These activities aren’t only fun, they also help develop coordination and motor skills.

This blog post is all about golf activities.

Golf Visor Decorating

Get your kids into the golf spirit by having them design their own visors. Grab some foam visors in the color of your choice and let each kid decorate their own. Crafting is the perfect indoor activity for kids.

You can use foam stickers, markers, or any other craft supplies.

This is a great way to start off a golf-themed day or party. You can also just use it as a standalone activity.

These visors become a fun accessory your kids can wear during playtime. You can even let them wear it mini golfing!

Golf Ball Decorating Ideas

Letting kids personalize their own golf balls is a perfect golf-themed activity. It’s also one of those indoor activities for kids that is unique. Decorating golf balls isn’t something you do every day. For this activity, we bought a bag of white golf balls.

We have a few golf ball decorating ideas. This golf activity can use Sharpies, paint markers, vinyl stickers, or even acrylic paint for bigger kids. When doing this activity, we used Sharpies. Your kids will love doing this golf activity!

Not only is this a fun craft, but it also helps your kids keep track of their ball during other golf activities. If messes are a concern, use plastic aprons to keep kids' clothes clean and a tablecloth to protect the table.

Setting the Scene: Signs and Scorecards for Golf Activities

For the next three golf activities, we made signs to help you set up different locations if you plan to do them all together. Even if you aren’t going to do all 3 activities together, the signs will still be a fun way to set the scene.

A golf bag with clubs, a basket of golf balls, and a sign reading "Driving Range" are set on grass, with numbered markers visible in the background.
A mini golf putting mat is laid out on carpet, with a sign reading "Bodacious Chip Off" nearby. Golf clubs and bags are in the background against a wall.

We also created a score card that kids can use for any and all of these golf activities. Our kids loved keeping track of their own score when doing these activities. We made it even more special by using these fun golf pencils.

Indoor Golf Game: Chipping Game

This activity is a great way to practice precision and aim. Use a Velcro mat with sticky golf balls. You could also make your own from a poster board with some targets drawn on it.

How to play:

  • Each child gets two turns to chip their ball onto the target.
  • They record their best score.

It really is that simple. Let your kids play it over and over again! See if they improve. They will love to see their improvements.

Indoor Golf Activity: Putting Green

This is one of our favorite indoor activities for kids. You don’t need a ton of space or an official putting green to practice putting indoors!

We have this foldable putting green that we love to use for this golf activity. There are other ways you can accomplish this activity too. You can grab a cheap putting green hole or plastic cups to create a green indoors.

Create an indoor putting green game:

  1. Create a putting mat by using:
    • artificial grass
    • green piece of fabric
    • green plastic tablecloth
  2. Mark different starting points and have kids count their strokes to reach each hole on their scorecard.

For younger children, adjust the difficulty by letting them start closer to the holes.

Golf Activity: Driving Range

This is best as an outdoor golf activity, but with little kids you could make a small “driving range” to put inside and use wiffle balls. We made some flags to mark the distance in your driving range. These flags make it easy to set up this golf activity.

Printable and Customizable Golf Signs

How to set up a driving range:

  1. Use small wooden dowels to hold up distance markers. If space is limited, adjust the distance to feet instead of yards—your kids will love it either way.
  2. Place the ball on a tee. In a smaller space or with big kids, use wiffle balls instead of regular golf balls to keep things safe.

Final Thoughts

These golf activities for kids are a fantastic way to stay entertained while developing coordination, patience, and precision. They make for the perfect themed day! Whether they’re decorating golf balls, putting into cups, or taking a swing at the driving range, there are plenty of ways to enjoy golf from the comfort of home!
