Halloween Activities for Kids

We love Halloween. The season brings so many fun opportunities. We love the season for creating and bringing the imaginary to life.

Many of our kids live for Halloween. They wait all year for the season. But, dressing up is only one highlight.

A few years ago, we thought up a way to make Halloween even more exciting! We collected a bunch of Halloween activities for kids. Then, we created a spellbook for our kids.

What we created was pure magic!

A young girl in a black witch hat and brown sweater stands at a table decorated with pumpkins, a vase of red berries, and bottles. She is pointing at an open book on the table. A wooden door with two orange candles is in the background.
A person wearing a black witch hat decorates for Halloween at a table with pumpkins, candles, books, and other spooky items. A witch hat hangs from the ceiling, and a broom and black cat decorations are on the wall. The scene has a festive and eerie Halloween vibe.
A child dressed as a witch is standing at a wooden table decorated for Halloween. The table has various pumpkins, candles, a crow statue, and spell book props. The child is wearing a pointed black hat and holding a potion bottle, surrounded by festive decor.

Halloween Decor Ideas

There are many ways you can style this spell book for a unique piece of Halloween decor. Each of us display Magical Mixology: A Kid’s Potionology differently at our houses to best match our Halloween decorations. Let’s look at some of the options for displaying this spell book.

DIY Spell Book Decor

This Halloween craft for kids printable can be added to your collection of diy spell books and wands, for the perfect witchy display. You can find a small book to add these pages to or turn it into its own book.

We have a guide for binding this spellbook as a faux leather book. This binding technique is a great craft for any group. It would make for a great Halloween for kids, although it does take a while to dry. We wouldn’t recommend this style for class parties or quick parties.

A brown spellbook titled "Witch's Brew" with a spider and web design on the cover lies on a table. Behind it is a dark blue book with a large spider design. Nearby are potion bottles, papers, and a net-like decoration, creating a mystical ambiance.

3D Printed Spell Book Cover

This year, we created a new way to display our spell book for kids. We created a 3D-printed cover. You can download the file for free. These turned out truly awesome.

A person in a sheer black dress holds a black notebook with a raised cauldron design and a keychain attached.

The best part is: it really takes your book to a new level. You can print it and tie the book in. Then, leave the cover as is, or you can give it a leather effect by using Mod Podge and tissue paper. Similar to the process of the DIY Spell books mentioned above.

A textured, black journal with a cauldron design on the cover sits on a table, decorated with colorful tassels, small pumpkin ornaments, and a toy spider.

This method is so simple, but it looks amazing when it’s done. You can use a glue stick or Mod Podge to attach each page securely, then let it dry completely. The leather cover makes the book feel spooky and magical, perfect for little potion makers!

We love this option because it’s quick and easy. It doesn’t need extra supplies, and you end up with a book you can enjoy year after year. Plus, it doubles as a piece of Halloween decor when displayed on a shelf, coffee table, or next to your potion ingredients.

Recipe Card Holder

Another way to display your Magical Mixology: A Kid’s Potionology is with a recipe card holder.

You can choose whichever page you are currently focusing on or whichever best matches your decor. With the artwork being so beautiful, it will surely make your Halloween decor so much better!

Bundled Up

An additional way to use this Halloween spellbook is to display it as a stack of printed cards and tie it with some twine or ribbon.

Then, you can place your little magical package anywhere in your decor. The cover is the perfect decoration to add a bit of spook to your decor.

A decorative skull, a diy spell book wrapped in twine, and bottles labeled “Ravens Brew” are displayed on a tray with a dark, spooky background.
