Printable Leprechaun Trap for Kids
St. Patrick’s Day Slime
If your kids are like our kids and love slime, this trap is for you! This trap is all about simple things that also build great memories. Slime is easy to make. We love that using this slime adds an extra dimension to leprechaun trapping. It adds a sensory play that brings joy to your kids, as well as some creative flair. Check out our blog post here for the perfect slime recipe.
We like to make clear slime with mostly green glitter and a few flecks of gold. Leprechauns love shiny things and glitter is the perfect addition!
Some other fun additions for St Patrick's Day slime:
- Mini Pom Poms
- Foam Balls
- Sequins
- Confetti
- Small Beads
Then, place a pile of gold or shiny objects near your slime. Hopefully, it will catch you a leprechaun but if it doesn’t... you may catch his footprints.
Rainbow Trap
Do you want to add a touch of learning to your St Patrick’s Day? Making a rainbow trap is the perfect way to lure those leprechauns to your house. We have a blog post about 7 rainbow science experiments and you could use any of them for a trap.
Our personal favorites to use for traps are the rainbow bridge, walking water, and the crystal rainbows. Check out our blog post on how to conduct these science experiments with your kids. Then, do these experiments the day before St. Patrick’s Day. Add a trail of shiny crystals or gold leading to it and cross your fingers you'll catch a leprechaun!
Magnetic Tiles Trap
Add a little architectural challenge to your St Patrick’s Day preparations. Our kids love Magna-Tiles and love to use them to make houses. We let our kids plan out their traps and build them out of Magna-Tiles. Make sure to build the trap where you want to catch your leprechaun because a Magna-Tiles structure may be difficult to move without breaking it. Encourage your kids to use green or make it an intentional rainbow! There are so many ways you can use this activity to challenge your kids! Fill your trap with gold coins or make a trail to lure the leprechaun inside.
Lego Leprechaun Trap Idea
Legos are a classic building block to boost the creativity and critical thinking of your kids. Have your kids plan out their trap and build a 3D version using Legos! Encourage the use of green or add some rainbow rows. If you have shiny legos, be sure to add those to the trap too. That will make perfect leprechaun bait. This is a perfect trap for those older kids to participate but can also be done with your younger Lego builders.
Fill your trap with gold or build a “yellow brick road” leading right to your trap. This will surely lure in a leprechaun.
So, whether you want your leprechaun trap to be hands-on, artsy, or constructive hopefully we have sparked an idea for you. Whatever your St. Patrick’s Day style, you can make great memories with your family! Have a lucky day!
