We love finding creative ways to bring the true meaning of Christmas to our homes. We love finding small ways to bring the true meaning of Christmas into our holiday celebrations. Our printable nativity set helps us do this.
After we made the Easter egg wrappers that told the story of Easter, we created a printable Nativity set. This set helps your family have a Christmas activity that brings Jesus Christ into your celebrations.
These Christmas Printables are fun, cute, and easy! They have the main characters from the Christmas story with coordinating scriptures. This helps the printable nativity set be more versatile.
Printable Nativity Set
Between the six of us, we have used this in many ways since the idea was brought up. We thought we would share all of them in case there is a way to use this kids’ nativity set you haven’t thought of.
Printable Nativity Set Assembly
Assembly of this nativity is quick. Most of our kids can do it on their own because it is so simple.
As you cut and assemble this printable nativity set, discuss the Christmas story with your children. Explain why we celebrate Christmas.
This Christmas printable makes it easy with the stories right there. To expand upon the story, you can find it in the Bible. We also have a great video you can watch with your family linked below.
Step 1: Download the Nativity
The first step in assembling this printable is to download and print the pages. You can get this printable on our Etsy shop.

Once you have downloaded the printable nativity set, you will have many options!
Step 2: Print the Kids Nativity Set
We created two options for the printable nativity set. You can choose to print in black and white (like coloring pages) or color. The black and white version is a perfect addition to a Christmas party kids’ table.
We recommend you print it on cardstock for durability. This document has 5 pages to print. The first 3 pages are characters from the nativity. Along with the nativity characters, you can add a stable and some animals to your stand-up Nativity.
The last page of the Christmas printable is verses from the Bible. These can be cut to size to be added to the back or inside of each character. You can also use them to extend the wrap.
Step 3: Cut and Glue your Nativity
Now, you will need to cut the Christmas nativity out. Cut along the dotted line of each one.
You can cut each band to adjust the size. This can be made to match whatever size you choose! Then glue or tape the ends together. Making a loop makes this Christmas printable freestanding. We have a few other options for making this kids’ Nativity set into something special.
Printable Nativity Set Uses
There are tons of great ways you can use this printable Nativity set.
We like that they can stand on their own to make a kid-friendly nativity set, they can be played with or simply decorated and placed in a special spot.
There are a few other ways that we have used this printable nativity set that we just love!
Kids Nativity Set Coloring
Use the black and white version of this printable Nativity set as a Christmas coloring activity. Let your kids use it as a decoration in their room, or give them a special place to put their very own Nativity set.
Read the matching scriptures for each character as you color it or as you set it up. Doing this activity with your kids will be a special moment in the season and really help them understand why we celebrate Christmas.
Candle Holder Nativity
We made this printable nativity set adjustable so it can be the perfect size to wrap around your favorite set of candles. This makes a simple, yet elegant nativity to add to your Christmas decorations or to have on your table for Christmas dinner.
We have liked using tea light candles (battery powered) or this battery candle set to add that perfect touch to our decor.
Nativity Tree Decorations
This printable nativity can also sit or be looped on the branches of your tree. These can also give the tree a nice touch of homemade ornaments. Your family can color the black-and-white version as a Christmas activity. Then, use them to decorate your tree.
Another option for tree decorations is to wrap them around ornaments. If you don’t cut any extra paper off of the sides of each nativity piece, you can wrap them around regular-sized ornaments. This is a perfect addition to a tree!
You can cut the bands smaller to fit smaller ornaments or add the scripture to the band to extend it for larger ornaments. This printable nativity set has all of the options available to make whatever you need work!
Nativity Advent
Another way to use this printable nativity is to use it as a Christmas advent. Countdown to Christmas with the story of Christmas each day. Each piece has a scripture carefully chosen to align with a part of the Christmas Story. This is the perfect way to bring Christ into your Christmas festivities.
There are 14 pieces to this printable Nativity set. So, there are a few ways an advent can be done.
Nativity Advent Option 1: Week of Christmas
This specific countdown uses only the people in our printable Nativity set. You will start exactly one week before Christmas. For example, if Christmas is on a Wednesday, then you start the Wednesday before.
Each day, you will read the scripture verse and place the person in the designated spot for your nativity. You do this every day until Christmas. Then, on Christmas morning, you will read the scripture and place baby Jesus.
Doing an advent in this specific way, will not only bring the spirit of Christ into your season but into your Christmas Day.
Nativity Advent Option 2: 12 days of Christmas
This way involves setting the stable and adding a few animals to the Nativity scene. You will either need to leave 2 animals out or place the sheep with the shepherd. We choose to place the sheep with the shepherd, it just makes it an extra special day!
Nativity Advent Option 3: Paper Chain
You can loop each of the Nativity pieces and chain them together using extra strips of paper to create the size you want for your countdown. Each day, you pull off a chain to countdown for Christmas. When you reach a nativity character, read the corresponding scripture. This is a fun way to countdown to Christmas.
This paper chain with Nativity images also makes a great garland for a simple, handmade decoration. You can keep it simple and white or print it in color and use colored chain papers.
If you are looking for other advent ideas, we have gathered our favorites in our Christmas Countdown Ideas post.

Nativity Tablescape
One of our favorite ways to add a special touch to our Christmas dinner is by creating a beautiful nativity tablescape. We love to start with a pretty tablecloth and then set up some lovely candles. It is easy to wrap the nativity printables around tea light candles, making them a centerpiece that truly reflects the meaning of the season.
As we gather around the table, it becomes a wonderful opportunity to talk about the true meaning of Christmas. We often find it meaningful to plan a family service project together or read the Christmas story, creating a fun tradition that really captures the spirit of the holiday.
