Halloween is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than by creating some fun and spooky treats? These skeleton sticks are not only easy to make but also a perfect addition to your Halloween party or a creative snack for the kids.

BEFORE WE BEGIN, GATHER THE FOLLOWING MATERIALS:

  • Large Marshmallows
  • Mini Marshmallows
  • White Chocolate Covered Pretzels
  • Sucker Sticks
  • Dark Chocolate Chips

Start by laying out your large marshmallows on a clean surface. These will serve as the heads of your skeleton sticks.

In a small bowl, melt some dark chocolate chips using the microwave. Stir the chocolate frequently as it melts to ensure it doesn’t burn. Once the dark chocolate is melted and smooth, use a toothpick to paint spooky skeleton faces onto the side of the marshmallows. Get creative with the expressions – make some scary, some silly, and some surprised!

Place the marshmallows with the chocolate skeleton faces on a plate or parchment paper and allow them to cool and harden. This should only take a couple minutes.

Now, take a sucker stick and place a mini marshmallow ? of the way down. The stick will be the skeleton’s spine. The mini marshmallow will act as a cushion and hold the pretzels securely on the stick.

For the skeleton’s body, add five white chocolate-covered pretzels to your sucker stick. These pretzels make for excellent rib cages. Arrange them vertically to resemble the skeleton’s bones.

Finally add the head to the top of the stick, topping off your skeleton. Another fun thing you can try is adding pumpkin peeps instead of marshmallows for heads. Q calls all Jack-O-Lanterns “pumpkin kings,” and he loved his “pumpkin king” skeleton.

Once you’ve assembled your skeleton sticks, arrange them on a serving platter or in a cup filled with Halloween-themed decorations. These spooky treats are now ready to be enjoyed by your Halloween party guests or as a fun snack for after school.

Crafting these skeleton sticks is a delightful and uncomplicated way to embrace the Halloween season. Whether you’re creating them as a party favor or whipping up a spooky after-school treat, they’re guaranteed to bring smiles to all ages. Don’t forget to explore our “Magical Mixology: A Kid’s Potionology” book, available in our Etsy shop. This book will boost your Halloween spirit, providing enchanting “spells” and playful poems for each recipe it contains. Happy Halloween and have a spooky time!
